error #161: declaration is incompatible with previous "output_sample" (declared at line 44)

i am working with c6713 and CCSv6 .i am encountering the following error while compiling:

"../c6713dskinit.c", line 47: error #161: declaration is incompatible with previous "output_sample" (declared at line 44)

c6713dskinit.c file is as it included from the library. So why it is showing this error? I am not able to resolve it. I am trying to run sine8_LED program given in rulph book.

plz help.

Hi Shashi,

I guess you are declaring "output_sample" two times, or it might be declared in any of header file. If so , then you need not have to declare it again in your .c file.

Hi Sashi,

Check out exactly, where the declaration of the function, output_sample is present?? ... Check line number 44 and 47 in c6713dskinit.c whether there is a mismatch and whether it is declared twice??.

For example,

// If it is declared something like below, then the return data type of the function is "void" and the data type of the input parameter is "int".

// Check whether the same data type is maintained where the function gets called......

void output_sample(int out_data);

This actually a "C programming question" not a processor related one. However, I would like to recommend you to go through some good stuffs on C6713DSK already existing on the TI WIKIS as well as books on "C" language.
