Hello All,

We have some application use case where I configured VFCC for Seprated Field. Now here are my questions as below:

How does the DEI algorithm knows if the inout field TOP or BOTTOM field?

Also, how encoder knows that input field is TOP or BOTTOM field?

You could check the h264 encoder user guide.

IVIDEO_INTERLACED_BOTTOMFIELD & IVIDEO_INTERLACED_TOPFIELD part of IVIDEO_ContentType structure.

If you have the overlay package you could check in file: omx_vfpc_DEI_if.c .

Hi Margarita,

Can you please explain us "What will happened if we will feed DEI two consecutive TOP fields?" and same as with Encoder (interlaced encoder)?

We are trying to understand if some kind of external synchronization is needed to make sure that DEI and ENC always gets alternate fields (in case of one of two consecutive field is dropped).

Please advice.

Hello Hitesh,

FVID2_Frame structure has a field “fid” which should be set by application as TOP and BOTTOM.
We have not tried the behavior if two top are set.
You could try to force fid always TOP and check the behavior.

Hi Margarita,

I have one more question: "When DEI has algorithm enabled for deinterlacing, can it accept interleaved/separated frame (not field) ?"

In this case de-interlacer should output two buffer as per my understanding, correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Margarita,

Currently, We are using DEI instance in Bypass mode just using it for scaling purpose. Now at output of DEI port 0 and 1.

We saw in overlay code(omx_vfpc_DEI_if.c) that pFrame->fid is always reset to FVID2_FID_FRAME. Also we debug that value of fid before it assigned to FVID2_FID_FRAME but that also the same. So we are loosing this field information here.

We expect this TOP/BOTTOM field information at output of DEI as de-interlacing algorithm has been disabled.

Please let me know from where we can this field information at DEI output.

Hello Hitesh,

It seems normal.

When the DEI is in bypassing deinterlacing mode it do only scaling if it is configure for this.

Hi Margarita,

We know that DEI by pass is working but problem is that at DEI output buffer with deinterlacer disable, we are getting pFrame->fid value always 2. Means we are not getting field value TOP/BOTTOM.

We need this TOP/BOTTOM field information for encoder.

Can you please provide us information that how we can get this information ?
