AM3359 SYNC0 pin required for Distributed Clocks operation?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3359

Normally with a dedicated ESC, there are hardware lines coming from the ESC to the microcontroller to indicate the Distributed Clock pulses.

On the AM3359, this line is called "pr1_edc_sync0_out", and it looks like there is only a single pin choice (UART0_CTSn, F19 on ZCE package / E18 on ZCZ package),

If we wish to use DC-SYNC0 EtherCAT functionality with the AM3359, does this pin have to be configured as SYNC0 (MODE 6), or is it possible for us to use this pin for something else (e.g. spi1_d0, aka MODE 4) and have SYNC0 pulses occur as a software interrupt?
