Is the internal RTC function of AM571x and Am572x supported?

Hi,

The technical reference manual and data sheet of AM57xx that RTC mode does not support .

There are four following questions.

1.Would you tell why it cannot support?

2.When revision of the silicon goes up, can there be the thing that RTC mode is supported?

3.Is there using it with an external IC of  RTC to continue working by a clock function in power supply OFF?

4.Because AM57xx do not support RTC mode, does it not have any problem even if RTC Oscillator(32.768kHz) does not use?

  • Hi,

I will ask the AM57X team to comment.

Most likely this low-power mode is not validated.

We don't have information about silicon roadmaps.

If I understand correctly, you would like to use an external RTC chip with the AM572x/AM571x device, right? This should be achievable.

There is no problem if you don't use the external RTC OScillator (32.768KHz). Just follow the recommendations in the DM for connecting the corresponding device balls

AE14 (rtc_osc_xi_clkin32) should be tied to GND through external pull, if unused.

AD14 (rtc_osc_xo) should be left unconnected with its internal pullup or pulldown enabled.

  • Hi Yordan,

    Thank you for quick reply.

    There are three following questions.

1.Will it be only a limit by low power mode?

2.If I use the external RTC OScillator (32.768KHz) in power supply ON, does RTC work normally?

3.Is it right by understanding not to include a bug in RTC in itself?

  • Hi,

Correct, this is a limitation only in the low-power modes of the device. The RTC module itself is working properly in when AM57xx is powered on.
There is no bug in the RTC IP.

  • Hi Yordan,

    Thank you for quick reply.

I understand that there is no bug in the RTC IP of AM57xx.

Thank you for your quick response.
