evm oob no ip address

Hello All,

I am a complete newbie at this, trying to move from matlab to real-time DSP, so please excuse any shortcomings of the following post.

I followed the TMDSEVM6657LS quick setup guide and can communicate with the board over USB but cannot get IP address. The boot successfully got through these steps:

IBL version: 1.0.0.15
IBL: Booting from NOR
platform_init Done
Start BIOS 6
HUA version 2.00.00.04
Setting hostname to tidemo-237397
MAC Address: 00-18-30-03-2B-CB
Configuring DHCP client

as indicated in the quick setup guide. Now it continues to cycle on the following four responses:

Service Status: DHCPC : Enabled : Running : 000
Service Status: DHCPC : Enabled : Fault : 002
Service Status: DHCPC : Disabled : : 000
Service Status: DHCPC : Enabled : : 000

and never gives me an IP address, as shown in the setup guide.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I have turned off the Windows firewall, am using OfficeScan Agent anti-virus. I have cycled the power on the board, restarted Windows, hit the reset button on the board multiple times. I have searched through e2e and google and found nothing that can help. Hoping this direct method helps.

Dear Bill,
How did you connect the ethernet cable ?
Its running in DHCP mode, you have to connect the ethernet cable from board to LAN (where DHCP server is running)

Hi Titus,

Thanks for your help. I am connecting the ethernet cable from the board to my laptop. I have no other ethernet connections to the laptop, to preclude any kind of collisions.

I should add I have checked and double-checked the dip switch settings. I have also add that my Windows IT guy has been helping me troubleshoot this, even using a second laptop, and is getting the same error as I.

I think I understand now. I connected the ethernet port of the board to my LAN, not my laptop, and have successfully completed the steps in the quick setup guide. Thank you very much!

Yes, if you want to connect the ethernet cable of board to your laptop then you should run the example in STATIC IP mode and you need to set the IP address manually for your laptop and board (DSP) in same netmask.

You can also change the DIP settings for static or dynamic IP mode (DHCP).
