Serial debug cable conflicts with USB-Blaster

Hi all

We're bringing up a system with an Altera Cyclone 4 connected to a TI AM5728 EVM. We want to capture events using SignalTap and use the Beaglebone serial cable to talk to the SoC. Problem is, the two adapters can't both be plugged into my Windows 7 system. I assume it has something to do with both cables running off of the same FTDI chip.

Anybody know a trick I can use to let me plug both the USB-Blaster and the Beaglebone serial cable into the same PC?

When we plug in the serial adapter, the USB-Blaster stops working, but is still visible in Device Manager. By "stops working", I mean the Altera programming and debug software no longer sees the USB-Blaster. The serial adapter functions normally.

This seems like an issue on the PC side, most likely with the Altera software. My best suggestion would be that you try with a different serial cable for the debug link, something that doesn't have an FTDI chip on it.
