I have a customer asking for the DaVinci IP camera eval board - Is there such a hardware platform? I see there is a lot of software, dev kits and reference designs but not a typical eval board.
Cheers

Hi Calum,
What kind of eval board are you looking for? Which platform are you looking for specifically, when you say DaVinci IP Camera? We have reference designs on DM355, DM365 and other third parties who have developed designs on DM646x and DM64x.
If you need specific information on the possible designs, you can either look at www.ti.com or contact local TI Sales/Marketing.

Thanks Anshuman,
I have a little more info. The customer would like a high end IP camera - I'm looking at the DM368IPNC-MT5. The important thing he needs is to be able to get access to the DSP and load and test his own proprietary CODEC. It's tough to see from the documentation if he has access to download code and to what extent he can do this - i.e can he load the NAND flash via the Ethernet port?. Are there and special tools(emulators, software environment, etc.) he would need?
He wants the highest performance IP camera - is there a better platform?
I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
Cheers

Calum,
As i said, i would recommend you to contact VsVc BU in TI to discuss the possible options. We have a big portfolio of devices and i am sure one of them would suit your needs. DM368 is a good platform, but i am not sure why would you want to put your proprietary codec on it. It does not have a DSP and has dedicated hardware accelerators which are used for codecs.

Hi Calum,
Please find more information about TI IPCamera portfolio at www.ti.com/ipcamera. If you have access to TI ESP, you could get more details. In ESP, please select DSP from Product Roadmaps combox box in the home page, then look for Video Security Solutions ppt towards the end of the page.
Your local Disty Business Manager (DBM) will be able to lead you to the right BU contacts. There are distributors in the US who maintain a loaner pool of these IPCameras. So it is quite likely that you may have access to a loaner IPCamera. If not, I highly encourage you to secure one since there has been signfiicant demand for these cameras for evaluation purpose.
