AM3352 VSS_OSC and VSS_RTC Connection

In the TI start kit design, VSS_OSC is connected to the 24MHz crystal via two 18pF capacitors and VSS_RTC is connected to the 32.768KHz crystal via two 22pF capacitors. Both pins are not connected to the system ground.

However, in the AM335x schematic checklist, under the clocking session, it states that "per advisory 1.0.30, VSS_OSC and VSS_RTC should be connected to the system ground."

Which one is the correct way?
