Dear All,

We are looking for an alternate eMMC for one of our earlier designs based on DM3730 DSP.

We could not find the MMC spec versions which DM3730 supports. This is required for us to choose a compatible eMMC. Currently, we could find eMMCs with version 4.4 and above.

Does the DM3730 supports eMMC with 4.4 and above versions? Please suggest.

Hi Naveen,

The DM3730 supports MMC/SD cards compliant with the Multimedia Card System Specification v4.2 from the MMCA Technical Committee. You can find more details about MMC supported features and limitation in the AM/DM37x TRM section 26.4.7.6 MMC/SD Cards at:

About support of newer eMMC chips note there is full compliance with the MMC command/response sets and MMC bus testing procedure, as defined in the Multimedia Card System Specification, v4.2, does not prevent the use of e.MMC version 4.3 (or 4.4) devices with the DM37x, because e.MMC devices are backward compatible.

I have another query. Can DM3730 support eMMC boot operation from v4.4(or above) eMMC specs?
