AM3359 Evaluation Module

Hi TI Experts,

I need to do some study and software evaluation on AM3359.

But i can't find the Evaluation Module available.

The only EVM available is AM3358 (TMDXEVM3358).

But for TMDXEVM3358, the user guide stated that it can only support AM335x processor family (AM3351, AM3352, AM3354, AM3356, AM3358) but no AM3359.

For AM3359, only the AM3359 Industrial Communications Engine TMDSICE3359 is available.

Thus, i have some questions:

1. Did AM3359 has their own Evaluation Module?

2. Can TMDXEVM3358 capable to support AM3359? and how?

3.Is TMDSICE3359 be use as evaluation module?

   If yes, may i know what is the different between this Industrial Communication Engine and Evaluation Module?

    Hi Wang,

    AM3359 is pin to pin compatible with all other devices in the AM335x family (AM3352, AM3354, AM3356 & AM3358). So if the processors are the same package (ZCZ or ZCE) they can be replaced with each other.

    The difference between the devices is that in some of them there are missing modules (i.e. no GPU, different number of instances for peripheral interfaces, etc..). You can see what each processor of the AM335x family supports in Chapter 3 Device Comparison in the AM335x Data Manual.

    Again in the data manual (of each of the processors (AM3359, AM3352, AM3354, AM3356 & AM3358) in Chapter 4 Terminal Description, you can see that the devices with the same package have the same ball maps.

    Just FYI, the AM335x Starter Kit, I have at my disposal, uses AM3359 processor.
