How to test the face detection function on Appro dm365IPNC-MT5 camera

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM642

hi all,

I have an Appro dm365IPNC-MT5 Camera. and I want to test face detection function of this camera. I use kernel and root file system which have been posted by the manufacturer.

I enable this fucntion on web inteface but I cannot see any rectangle which must be drawn around  the detected face in the frame.

I can see that this fucntion works on terminal.

please tell me how to see the face detection function works visually.

thanks you.

  • Hi,

Which version of IPNC Reference Design release are you using? Can you share the bootup log and the application execution log that gets printed on serial terminal? I dont remember we had any problems with face detection operation, other than the initial few releases. Also, please share the video stream that you are recording from the camera.

    Regards,

    Anshuman

I uploaded a recorded video at this link:

    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?z4ynhqtmyjl

I thinks the face detection works but I don't know where to see it visually.

    thanks you.

  • Hi,

Looking at the video stream, i dont see any problem. Even the parameters for the application look good. The only thing i find strange is that FACE.D thread is showing 199 ms/frame which is quite high. Can you please check if OSD features like Date/Time stamp overlay is working and you can see it on the network stream? Also, you might want to try some other single stream mode like Single D1 option also instead of Single 720P.

Meanwhile, i will try to find out if there was any problem with FD in ver 1.5 of IPNC. FD is one module that has been working reliably well without any application modifications.

    Regards,

    Anshuman

  • thanks Anshuman,

I have re-tried. there is no problem. thanks you very much.

  • Hi Mai Huy

I have encountered the same problem, Can you tell me how to solve this problem???

  • Hi, I didnot solve the problem. because Appro dm365ipnc-mt5 camera does not support face detection feature. Sorry, because at that time, I mistake. please refer here

    http://designsomething.org/leopardboard/f/33/p/315/1019.aspx#1019

  • Hi Mai Huy

Thanks for your information. That is the reason why my camera can not work with face detection.

                Thanks again

  • Hi,

As mentioned in the other post, there are specific DM36x parts that support face detection. Please contact Appro directly if you want an IPNC with the face detection feature enabled.

    Regards,

    Anshuman

PS: Please mark this post as verified, if you think it has answered the question. Thanks.

  • Hi sir,

    I am new to CCS.

I need your guidance in implementing face detection over TI 's DSP TMS320DM642.

Please help me about how can initiate the project. And i have also looked upon the opencv implementation of face detection, plus started studying it back for the purpose of porting of code but haven't got much success as a newbie..

Please mentor me so that i can proceed in a step-by-step approach towards the successful completion of this task and starting a new work later.

Hope to receive a positive reply from you soon.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Aditya Pant
