what is the maximum space of DM814x FLASH

Hi Guys,

Please help to confirm the maximum FLASH can be supported for DM8148

I saw below information about GPMC:

-- 512M-Byte Total Address Space Divided Among up to 8 Chip Selects

So I guess the maximum FLASH size supported should be 512M Byte, not the 512*8(Chip Selects) = 4G Bytes?

The 512 MByte addressing capability is only for parallel flashes like NOR where multiple address lines are used. For NAND, the addresses are serial and sent over multiple cycles, so much larger capacities can be supported.

The ROM Code supports up to 64Gbit (8GB) NAND chips. The list of the supported NAND chips is shown in Table 4-14. Supported NAND Devices from the DM814x TRM. Except the size (64Gb), you should also consider the device ID, bus width and page size.

For booting, we have not tested with parts greater than 8GByte.

For storage, we don’t think there should be a restriction as we can increase the number of address cycles needed in s/w. But again, we have not tested with parts greater than 8GBytes.

Hi Pavel,

Thanks the quick answer.
I just see the DM814x and DM816x are the similiar series, then select it.
So do you mean there is a specific title for DM8148? if yes, I will try to find it next time.
