Hello All,

Thanks to posts in this forum I have been able to set up NAND Boot for my DSP application as well as figure out how to load a program into my device's NAND Flash.
The solution involves using the AISGen tool as well as the NANDWriter project found in the OMAP-L138 flash and boot utils resources from TI. This works great for the few first article boards we are currently testing, but when we reach production this solution might prove to be too cumbersome for the people loading the chips.

Is there some kind of alternative to Unifalsh or the LM Flash programmer that can be used for the TMS320C6748 chip? The goal would be that the user would use a standalone application to load a .out or .ais file to the NAND flash of our device.

I hope, you can use SFH tool to flash the boot image into NAND flash.
C:\ti\OMAP-L138_FlashAndBootUtils_2.40\OMAP-L138\GNU\sfh_OMAP-L138.exe

You can write bat (windows) or bash (Linux) scripts to do automated in production.

Is there a way that this could be done using a JTAG connection rather than UART?

Dear Bryan,
I think, yes, you can use the same NANDwriter project (*.out) and able to load & run via JTAG using loadti & DSS tool (and also without using CCS.)

Is there a way to automate the generation of AIS files? Or is it a requirement that we go through the aisgen tool?

For production, you will flash the same binary to all the boards, right? USing AIS gen tool, you will generate the binary only once!!. Then you do not need any automation for AIS.

You can use just the sfh programming utility to program the boards by using the following procedure:

The Binary image here used is the u-boot binary image in AIS format. You can use your own binary image.

1.You just have to have the following files. Use the parameter for your custom board instead of "OMAPL138_LCDK"

a.sfh_OMAP-L138.exe - Serial flashing utility

b.u-boot-omapl138-lcdk.ais – U-boot binary image [ You can use your own binary image here ]
