Hi,

I bought a AM4378 board and the embedded Linux, Qt, and Cross Compile environment are OK now. I want to do some work to evaluate the PROFIBUS PROTOCOL. The problem is that I don't know how I can do it step by step. Can anyone help me to give a Roadmap for implementation the protocol? Where can I get the evaluation version of PROFIBUS protocol stack?

Hi,

Which AM437X board do you have? PROFIBUS demos are included in the Industrial SDK: downloads.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html but you should note that this software has been designed to run on the AM437X IDK: www.ti.com/.../tmdxidk437x

Hi biser,
Thanks for your kind response.
My board is AM4378 Evaluation Module, which use embedded Linux as OS.
I'm pretty new in developing Industrial protocol, yeah, I should read more demos and the IDK firstly.

But I don't use SYS/BIOS Real Time Operating System (RTOS), and there is no any industrial protocol in the SDK：processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Processor_SDK_Linux_Software_Stack

So do I need to change the Demos and port them into the Linux ?

At this moment we have no support for Industrial protocols under Linux, as they generally require real-time processing. Also, the AM437X GP EVM that you have does not have the necessary hardware to run the industrial protocols.

Thanks Biser.

But I am quite confused, the device AM4378 is definitely indicated that it support the Profibus protocol. So why can't I port and run the industrial protocol in the module? The embedded Linux OS should be supposed to follow up the real-time processing requirement.
