Microphone input of OMAP-L137 EVM

Hello. I'm working on a project about acquiring data from microphones (not only one mic) then processing these data  and finally driving the speakers. Now I wander can I acquire two microphone signals at the same time (or in other words using I2S format)? If so, how to connect the mic foot and 3.5mm audio jack?  If not, how can I get two mic inputs (even more inputs) using the EVM? I really appreciate for your advice!

Sincerely

Wangyu

  • Dear Wangyu,
We are working on your post.
    Thanks for your patience.
  • Wangyu,

Yes, you can access two microphones signals through I2S.

A similar query has been already in below thread. Please have a look and let me know if you still have further questions.

  • Dear Senthil,

I really thank to your reply. In the post you gave to me, I can see, “connect two microphones (stereo channels) on I2S bus”. But I still have some questions.

    1. Should I just use I2S microphones? The normal MEMS microphone or ECM microphone can't be used ?

    2. I'm using OMAPL137 EVM and the EVM has it's own Mic In jack and codec. The Mic In jack is connected to MICR/MICL and MICBIAS and it doesn't link to I2S bus, so how to use I2S mic on the evm?

    3. If I can use normal MEMS mic or ECM mic (I have tested single ECM mic with the evm and it can work well. As the data sheet shows that, the MICR and MICL pin are connected with each other, so does it mean I can't use Mic In jack? Can I use Line In jack?), how to connect the mic and audio wire?

I'm grateful and looking forward for your reply.

    Best wishes,

    Wang Yu

  • Wang,

    1. You have to use digital microphone with I2S interface to get connected to I2S bus.

    2. In contrast with OMAPL137 EVM, the MIC IN jack is not connected to I2S interface and you cannot use I2S microphones on the EVM.

    3. I will have to check on this and get back to you.
