I am attempting to use the Ethernet IP application with my ICEv2. However I don't have a Windows machine with which to use this "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool v2.0.6". So I took a blind stab at what it might be doing and formatted the card as FAT with a bootable flag. Then I copied the appropriate MLO and APP onto the card. However the board doesn't seem to boot (in sofar as the LED screen doesn't say anything like the Ethercat stock image does). Does anyone have any hints as to what the HP tool is doing?

I bugged another department to let me use a windows machine and it still doesn't work. It's probably fat32 and I'm doing it right but it may have something to do with:

ROM Bootloader looks for a file named 'MLO' in SD card and if found,loads it to IRAM and executes it. Please note that, SPI bootloader should NOT be present in SPI flash.

Before now it had been booting into the default Ethercat image when an SD card was not plugged in. So through CCS/JTAG I ran the AM335x ISDK Flasher and erased the bootloader. Still won't load SD cards. Tried to reflash the prebuilt image sysbios_ind_sdk_prebuilt_02_01_01_02/bootloaders/AM335X_ICEv2.1/mcspi_release/bootloader_boot_mcspi_a8host_release_ti.bin and the stock application does not seem to boot either so I'm stuck staring at a paperweight.

What should be flashed to get this board to boot off the SDCards?

Hi,

A couple of things to check here -

Is the boot mode selected properly? -
Is the SPI Flash bootloader flashed as per - processors.wiki.ti.com/.../SYSBIOS_Industrial_SDK_Getting_Started_Guide

To prepare the SD card, there are multiple ways

I fought with this for a long time. I didn't even figure it out completely when I marked Vinesh's answer as correct but I liked the information in in that post. I revisited this today and what I found was the files in sysbios_ind_sdk_prebuilt_02_01_01_02 do not work for the ICEv2. What worked for me was the am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_prebuilt_01_01_01_01 package. Not sure the difference there but I put this here to note that.

Also as a note my ICEv2 doesn't look for MLO on the SD card. Doesn't really hurt to put it on there I guess but when it boots it jumps straight to loading the app.
