but the example is only a project file format CCS v3.3.

It would be very usefull to have a project with the source of an example created in CCSv4 and builded in it.

Are there any DSPLink examples for ccs v4?  I can't find any.   I"ve been told I have to use ccs  v4 because ccs v3 is not supported on windows 7, and that's the OS I'm required to use.

Any updates on this would be great.

i encountered the same problem. I would like to setup a CCS v4.x project with DSPLink samples but found no useful info till now. I do have the entire instructions for setting the GPP side but would need the DSP side as well with code composer studio project for v4.x that can also continue to debug. can someone point to a useful link demonstrating it?

I'm just bumping this thread to see if there is anything out there for good examples with CCSV4.  From what I've seen there isn't and I'll figure it out but TI should really put some effort into this.  It would not be much work on their part and with CCSV5 coming out later in the year even more examples should be included.  Especially for the OMAP processors.  I'm using the DM3730 and have to get the GEL files off the wiki, should be part of a CCSV4 update.  CCS is a powerful product but you need some work in the area of template examples whenever you release a new processor and/or for DSP/BIOS and SYS/BIOS.

Barely ;-)...  TI support tends to be selective.  From what I have found out after a lot of googling and reviewing what docs there are (which is poor) is you are better off with CCSV5 and skipping CCSV4, newer version of Eclipse is a much better editor and you can use plugins.  Then swallow the bullet and use SYSLINK.  You basically have to build SYSLINK for the dsp outside of CCSV5 for their examples.  Once it builds you can reference it in a CCSV5 project under CCS Build->RTSC->Products and Repositories, which is just a reference to the SYSLINK installation directory.

You can create a new project, then copy one of their examples into a new 'C' file and build it, using it as a template.  You'll need to copy the cfg as well.  There is a lot different from CCSV3, once you get over the hurdle it is not that bad, but the first step does hurt a lot.  I also found their project conversion program does not work very well but is useful to figure things out on how things map with regards to configuration files.

The other thing to get use to is Tools->RTSC->Platforms, this is where you create your memory map, which is different from DSP/BIOS.  It is actually a better way to do it as you can create different platforms/maps for your board and customize.

One of the biggest problems is when it comes to creating configuration files (previously TCF) you are better off using their text editor.  The user interface for XGCONF does not prompt you like CCSV3 configuration use to and it can be hard to figure out what you are suppose to enter for options.  Best to look at some of the examples hidden in the CCSV5 installation directory and see what is in those cfg files.

I have not fully tested SYSLINK but it appears the direction TI is taking so best to use it if you can.  I'm using the DM3730 and OMAP3530 with Windows 7 for DSP development.  Some useful links:

Thanks for your notes.  It's much appreciated.   Right now we've invested a good amount of time trying to get CCSv4 working for our situation and using DSPLink.  We really need to move on past simple exploration of tools to get some actual work done, so I would REALLY like TI to respond with some useful advice on how to configure CCSv4 to work with DSPLink.  I would imagine that Deepali or someone else in his organization has the knowledge to give a quick walk through of the steps needed to get this done.

On a side note, another reason we haven't gone to 5.0 yet is because, according to the wiki, it's not for general release.  5.1 will be the replacement for CCSv4.  It's right there on wiki.

Thanks for responding.  These links are interesting, but it's about porting 3.3 code to CCSv4.   I don't want a port, I don't want a migration.  I don't want to have to wrestle with things I have little or no knowledge about.   I want TI to give me straight, step by step instructions on how to get a DSPLink example working in CCSv4.

Is that too much to ask?

I'll try porting the old 3.3 example, but the zip archive that Deepali links to is "only a project file format CCS v3.3." (Jonathan's words, which I've confirmed.)  In other words, it's incomplete, and I don't know if it will be all that useful to port.

Building or just debugging?

The DSP Link examples all build with makefiles (to better support both Windows and Linux users), so AFAIK, we don't have any examples that build from CCS project files.
