Is it safe to assume that an OMAP-L138 power solution will work for the AM1808?

For the most part yes, though some power supply setups can be application specific, the AM1808 and OMAP-L138 are largely compatible. For example if you look at the EVM boards for both devices from LogicPD you will find that the SOMs for each use the same TPS65070 power management IC.
Jeff,
If you want to see the voltages on the EVM in realtime, Logic PD released their new Wattson software for the AM1808 EVM which will help you see actual voltage, current, and power consumption across all power rails on the CPU and SOM design. The board works with both the AM1808 and OMAPL138 designs.
There is an adapter required to connect to the PC available from this website: http://createnewstuff.webs.com/breakoutboardwattson.htm
The Logic PD software is available from here: http://www.logicpd.com/wattson
