DM3730/TPS65950 HSUSB Port Operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950, DM3730

Hi,

I want to connect your TPS65950 Power management device to your DM3730 processor using one of the 12-pin High Speed USB bus interfaces (HSUSBx). In particular, I want to use HSUSB2 for this purpose. Figure 1.1 in the AM/DM37x Multimedia Device Technical Reference Manual (SPRUGN4R - Sept 2012) shows HSUSB0 being used for this purpose, but doesn't mention restrictions on the other ports. It appears that the HSUSB0 interface is the only one that supports OTG, but I'm not sure if the TPS65950 requires an OTG controller. In the past we used HSUSB0 for this purpose, but are changing to the non POP processor package (CUS), so we can no longer use HSUSB0 because of limited connectivity options for this package.

Can I use HSUSB2 to connect the two devices?

Thanks, Mike

  • Hi Mike,

The TPS65950 can be connected physically to each one USUSBx ports of DM3730 but this is not a standard decision and you will not be able to use standard Linux drivers (for TPSxx) because they expect to have USBOTG connection.
