SOC Analyzer for DVSDK 2.0

Hi, All

I just updated to DVSDK 2.

In the guide, it reads

"Copy the contents from the appropriate device directory on your host machine

X:\<SoC_Analyzer_Install_Dir>\SoCAnalyzer1_2\dvt_resources\target-install\<DVSDK_Version>\

to the target board. is the 1.20, 1.30, or 1.40 DVSDK software version. Finally run the dsa-install.sh"

Where can I get 2.0 version package in "target-install" directory? As after I ran dsa-install.sh, it said "version disagrees".

any idea?

thanks.

  • Vincent,

The SoC Analyzer is not supported in DVSDK 2.0.

    Regards,

    Imtaz.

  • Imtaz,

Is it planned to be supported in the future or what?  I'm interested in this too.  I first saw it referenced to in the "Dummies" book.  Doesn't look like it is supprted for OMAP3 either.  Is this somthing you guys are dropping support for???

    Thanks!

  • Hutchman,

Unfortunately we dropped support for SoC Analyzer as there are not many users of the tool and as a result, the effort to port to additional devices/versions of DVSDK could not be justified.

We are working on a multi-core analysis tool that will provide similar functionality to the SoC Analyzer but will be more generic and readily available on different devices.

    Regards,

    Imtaz.

Any updates on this?  Is it purely a software solution that will be available (or at least portable) to "legacy" devices like DM644x, etc.?  Or is it hardware-based and will only work in brand new devices?

Do you have a timeline for availability?  Can you share the name of the utility?

  • Brad,

The feature is called UIA (Unified Instrumentation Architecture). It is a software solution but can also leverage new hardware functionality.

    UIA provides the following framework/features/components/..:

    • Target Side API for instrumenting code
    • Transports for moving data from target to host
      • Currently focusing on TCP/IP transport
      • Will add STM, JTAG, UART, etc. in 2011
    • Control port for enable/disable logging
    • DVT analysis of data

We are currently working on UIA 1.0 which is focusing on multi-core target (testing on OMAP4, Tomahawk, Netra, Shannon, Nyquist) running BIOS. UIA 1.0 will be Beta at year end an Limited Release (as a patch to CCS) in February. UIA 2.0 will add some support for Linux and will be more widely available ... this is targetted for CCSv5.0 (3Q11).

    Regards,

    Imtaz.
