MSGQ Transport for UHPI Interface

Hi,

I am using BIOS 5.41 on the C6727. I would like to use the MSGQ module to exchange messages with an external device over UHPI. Is there support at the driver/transport layer available for this interface? If not, is there any documentation on coding a transport for the MSGQ module, this is mentioned in the BIOS User's Guide but without detail?

Hi CT,

It would be possible to use MSGQ/DSPLink with HPI as mentioned in the http://www-s.ti.com/sc/techlit/spru423 , but we do not have an example - there isn't really much support for it.

I would recommend to use the shared memory approach.

Thanks for the response. Are you suggesting still using the MSGQ module with a shared memory message queue transport, or not using the MSGQ at all? I see a MQT on the TI website for the C64xx (for shared memory and SRIO), is this easily portable to the C6727?

Probably not very easy as the interrupt registers are all different.

Thanks Mariana,

I guess what I am trying to figure out, is if I want to use MSGQ on the C6727 to send messages to an external device (a PPC processor for example) do I need to write my own message queue transport (MQT). I know I will have to write some software similar to MSGQ on the external device, but on the C6727 running DSP/BIOS are there MQTs available (like a shared memory MQT), or do they have to be written and plugged into MSGQ? I have only found MQTs for the 64xx.

Unfortunately the "How to write a Transport" has not been written. The best approach is to look at existing transports. Two more transports can be found at the following site: http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_registered_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/MQT/index.html

I do have some high-level PPTs that discuss some key points when writing a transport. Please let me know if you are interested in those.
