Camera Link Connection on Davinci DM814x?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a platform to capture data from a cameralink compatible camera and do some signal processing. In other messages in this forum, it was stated that this would be possible. In order to test it, I plan to purchase the TMDXEVM8148 from Mistral.

Has anyone got any experience in that context? I would be interested to find out what is possible:

1) Is the cameralink interface capable of decoding data given a "base", "medium" or "full" link?

2) What is the maximum frame rate?

3) What is the supported bit width range?

4) Is there a cameralink physical connector on the EVM? If not, how difficult is it to connect a cameralink cable?

5) Is it possible to pass the video data to C6748 via DMA transfer?

6) Is it possible to program the EVM bare metal (TI-RTOS)?

Thank you and best regards

Hauke

  • Hi Margarita,

thank you for the reply. That question is hard to answer: I have not decided for anything yet, we are looking for possible solutions.

It seems that the Mistral EVM is the best - since the only - option to start. My intention was to write code based on TI-RTOS - maybe a Linux distri on top.

If you have any suggetions simplifying the development I would want to follow your proposal.

The question was more like "is it possible at all?"..

    Thank you and best regards
