Migrating from C6748 to omap L-138

I currently have a design that works on a C6748 using CCS 3.3. What would it take to migrate the same design to the C6748 on the Omap L-138 chip. I need to convey to management how risky it would be to the current project to move it to the Omap L-138.

The final goal is to run the current design on the C6748 of the Omap L-138 and use the ARM to host more algorithms.

Hello Dieter,

The C6748 is the DSP only variant and OMAP-L138 is the ARM+DSP variant of the same family. If you are migrating from C6748 to OMAPL138 device, you will be getting additional ARM core. Apart from this, there wont be any difference between the two devices.

Thanks. So I assume I would just recompile my C6748 project using CCS 3.3 DSP/BIOS for OMAP and it would work as simply as that?
If I would use the ARM core, are there any issues with sharing the EMIF bus between the DSP and ARM? Is the arbitration transparent to me? Would there be only one image file to program both devices? Do both devices have their own internal program and code memory? Sorry for asking so many questions, maybe there is a Wiki site that will answer some of them.

Yes, you can share the EMIF bus between the DSP and ARM but not at the same instant. Both ARM and DSP have their own internal program and code memory. You could refer the datasheet and do comparison between the C6748 and OMAPL138 devices. Unfortunately we do not have a wiki for this migration.
