Problem with pulseOx MDK

Hi,

I bought a TMS320C5505EVM with PulseOx Front-End board. I installed everything and run the SpO2.out. It run well and the display showed a green straight line moving from left to right. I noticed that the red LED on SpO2 sensor did not glow, therefore the reading remained zero. I have checked with the sensor supplier (biometriccables). Nothing wrong with the sensor, the LED glowed when I unplugged the sensor and forward-biased the LED using a multimeter.

Can anyone help me.

Thanks

Nemuel

  • Nemuel,

    First thing first:

When you run the pulse ox code with a SpO2 sensor connected , you should see a red straight line moving from left to right. Then when you insert a finger to the sensor, the line will become green which indicates it detects the finger inserted. If you see a green line with a SpO2 connected (but no finger inserted), it means that the FE board does not communicate to the sensor at all, which I never observed. Please double check this. Make sure you connect the FE board correctly and firmly to the mother board.

If you still see a green, please check voltages on the FE board. I believe you have its schematic. Please check each voltage.

Please let me know if it helps.

    Best Regards,

  • Dear:

I have also c5505 EVM with Pulse oximeter board, when i load the .out  file of pulse oximeter supplied from ti. it does not work.

no display appears and no serial communication. Can you tell me any reason. One thing to mention is that my EVM card has

no NAND memory, is this the reason for not booting properly.

    Thanx in advance.

  • Hi,

You don't need any external memories to run SpO2 on the C5505 EVM. Please check if you have a C5505EVM. If you have the C5515EVM, you need new SpO2 code. Also, please give me detail information on your connection, how you load the code, etc.

  • Hi  Peter Chung,

I have C5505 EVM. I checked out the sample programs for UART and LCD that i have received with board. It worked well on C5505 EVM

without any AFE card and Pulse oximeter probe. But when i attach   the PO AFE,  and load the program SpO2.out from C:\Program Files\C550x_MDK_PulseOx_Application_Code\SpO2System\SpO2_System_v5_0\Debug,

as i installed the software in the default location, there come problems. and program fails to boot the card properly.

For connection i connect the AFE with main EVM via J20, J21 and J22, which is also mentioned in manual.

    Thanx

  • Hi,

I am using EVM5515 + SpO2 AFE + Finger probe sensor. As you have mentioned, I see a red straight line moving from left to right when I run the pulse ox code with the sensor connected. But, even after inserting the finger there is no change in the waveform, I still see the red straight line. What may be the problem. Please help me.

    Thanks in advance.
