AM335x 1024x600 resolution support

Good day Colleagues,

My customer wants to use LCD with 1024x600 with LVDS interface.

Could you tell me, what AM335x is the best for this resolution and could you recommend parallel to LVDS driver (4 output LVDS lines)?

Is there any limitations for 1024x600 in terms of fps?

Customer doesn't use 3D or complex graphics.

Hi Mikhail,

All AM335x devices have the same LCD controller. About frame rate, the limiting factor is the maximum pixel clock frequency that AM335x supports - 126.5MHz. A good guide to LVDS connectivity can be found here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../LCD_connectivity It's a bit old but still valid for AM335x. LVDS devices can be selected from the TI product page: www.ti.com/.../flatlink-fpd-link-lvds-for-lcd-products.page Also remind your customer of AM335x Errata Usage Note 3.1.1 for the correct color assignments of the LCD pins.

Could you tell me, what pixel rate will be for 1024x600 for different fps? Let's say 24fps, 50fps, 60fps?
Customer wants to use 24bits depth.

Well, this would depend on display timing requirements, but a rough approximate is: Pixel clock = 1024 x 600 x FPS x 1.3 (1.3 makes roughly for the horizontal and vertical porches). They will have no problem at 60fps, the LCD controller will support this frame rate at this resolution.
