All,

How do I test my SPI1 interface?

I decided to buy the MSP-EXP430F5438 experimenter board which is close to what we are using.

I am a complete noob to TI DSP and now MSP.

Software: Is there SPI1 example code available to send small data between on the TMS320C6748 and MSP-EXP430F5438?
(need example for MSP as well as 6748).

Hardware: What do I need to do to physically connect SPI1 between the two eval boards?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the SPI example is available for C6748. You can find it as a part of the starterware software package of C6748 (OMAPL138_StarterWare_1_10_04_01). Download link: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/StarterWare

You may have to search the SPI code for the MSP-EXP430F5438. I just looked into the product folder of MSP-EXP430F5438:

and under the "Software" option, able to find the software packages , MSP430F54xx Code Examples (Rev. U) and MSP-EXP430F5438(A) Example Software (Rev. L). Download and have a look in those software packages for SPI code.

You refer to the old schematics of C6748 LCDK in which the SPI of C6748 is interfaced with a finger print sensor as a SPI device. It will help. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/L138/C6748_Development_Kit_(LCDK)#Rev_A5

Hello,

The C6748 device SPI interface supports 3-, 4-, and 5-pin operation with three basic pins (SPIx_CLK, SPIx_SIMO, and SPIx_SOMI) and two optional pins (SPIx_SCS, SPIx_ENA). Please refer device data manual and TRM for more details about these operation.
