setting up CCStudio with OMAP-L137 EVM

I have been trying to setup a Code Composer Studio 3.3 for the OMAP-L137 EVM. I have installed the program and drivers from the DVD supplied. After connecting the board and powering it, the message "Error reading Code Composer setup information. Code Composer may not have been correctly installed".

I have tried uninstalling everything and re-installing. and have not been able to get past this. The Code Composer user interface never shows.

Any help getting this working would be appreciated.

Hi mark,

1. Try opening the CCS as Administrator ( i.e., right click CCS--> Open as Administrator )

2. For CCS version 3.3, the system requirements are given below.

Check whether you OS is 32 bit / 64 bit ? . It supports Windows 2000 and XP. It doesnot support Windows 7.

You can choose the latest version of CCS . ( May be version "6" for Windows 7 ) . Let me know if you are using Linux.If yes, try opening with root privilege.

Below are the system requirements for Code Composer Studio v3

Hardware Requirements

	Minimum	Recommended
Memory	512MB	2GB
Disk space	300MB*	1.5GB
Processor	1.5GHz	2GHz

Depends on features selected during installation. Does not include temporary space required by the installer.

Operating System Requirements

Windows 2000 and XP. For XP, only 32-bit version is supported.

Windows Vista is not officially supported but it may be adapted to work, given some known issues.

Thanks and I see says the blind man.

Clearly the problem then is that I am using Windows 7 64 bit. I could setup an XP system but that is not a good long term solution. If version 6 supports the development board, then that is the ideal solution. I will see if I can download it.

We would like to recommend to use the CCSv6 which is newer version of CCS for the latest OSes such as WIN7 and WIN8 etc.,
Yes, CCSv6 is also supports OMAPL137 EVM board.

CCS version 6 supports the development board. You can download it from here. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:Code_Composer_Studio_v6

You need a licensed version of CCS to get connected to the development EVM.

I have installed version 6 and it seems to compile and then load a program but when attempting to run it there are errors. I have tried a number of "connections" but the two that seem like real possibilities are:
Spectrum Digital XDS510USB Emulator
Spectrum Digital XDS510USB Emulator TI-JSC
Both generate an error:

Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000240/-1180
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,
The target is being held in reset. The applied reset must be released before progressing.

The instructions which come with the EVM are not very helpful in this case. Is there a jumper or switch on the board which might be locking it up?

Setup the EVM in "emulation debug" mode by setting SW2 switch as follows:

For revisions A and B:

Pin #	7	2	1	0	3
Position	1	1	1	1	1

For all revisions after B:

Pin #	7	2	1	0	3
Position	1	1	1	1	0

Success. I have been slowly finding all the C6747 information on the TI wiki. It is unfortunate that the program version and instructions shipped with the board are effectively unusable.
