Hello,

We are considering implementing the following architecture on a AM5728:

2 EtherCat Slaves interfaces on PRU2, driven by the first M4
1 EtherCat Master interface on PRU1 (PRU1 would actually be a standard Ethernet), driven by the second M4
1 Gigabit Ethernet interface on GMAC accessed by Cortex A15

Because GMAC and PRU1 pins are multiplexed, do you see any concern with the following routing used concurrently:

PRU2ETH0 for Slave EtherCat
PRU2ETH1 for Slave EtherCat
PRU1ETH1 for Master EtherCat
RGMII0 for Gigabit interface

We would test this configuration using AM5728 Industrial EVM.

Hi,

On Am572x, EtherCAT slave protocol runs on A15, rather than M4, with the firmware on PRU-ICSS. And the current complete offering of PRU-ICSS Industrial Software for Sitara(TM) Processors is listed here www.ti.com/.../PRU-ICSS-INDUSTRIAL-SW.

With regard to GMAC and PRU1 pin mux on AM572x IDK EVM, please refer to page 11/12 of the schematic here: www.ti.com/.../tidrlh4.pdf
PRU1ETH0 pins are mutiplexed with RGMII0, and PRU1ETH1 pins are mutiplexed with RGMII1, so you might want to try PRU1ETH1 for Master EtherCat and
RGMII0 for Gigabit interface, assume you are able to implement EtherCAT master protocol & firmware on PRU1ETH1 driven by M4.

Hi, AM572x has 2 A15, you could use one for running EtherCAT slave and, the other for running EtherCAT master....

Hello.

For PRU1/GMAC multiplexing, you are right, EtherCat Master will be on PRU1ETH1 and Gigabit interface will be on RGMII0. (I edited my previous message)
So our job will be to implement EtherCat Master on M4 and use appropriate firmware on PRU1.
