Hi team,

We are working on a POS device protoype

We have li-ion 4000 mah battery in our system and we used Battery Fuel Gauge in our system to monitor the below battery parameters

1. Current Battery status

2. Current Battery charge state(Charging/Not charging)

and we used TI's BQ34Z100-g1 to accomplish the above tasks.

And driver is up and I can check the above parameters using "/sys/class/power_supply/battery/ " attributes

But my project requires me to do the above testing using a standardized way (like providing APIs for each and every parameters)

So I would like know whether any linux sample application is available. Just require sample application.

Please provide any sample application

You may have to write application with I2C, firstly you have to read the fuel gauge data sheet and get the commands to read the status of battery, current, voltage, charging or not etc.,
Then send the commands to fuel gauge IC then read back the values and get the result.

Here is the sample application code for BQ27441, modify it for yours.

Dear Titus,

Thanks for the reply. So I found out from BQ34Z100-G1 datasheet that to read the Percentage of battery remaining, There is a COMMAND code 0x02(StateOfCharge ) which I call from User space to find out the percentage
In order to get the battery percentage,
* do I need to first do two byte write like "I2cSendData(BQ34Z100_ADDR, 0x02, 2)" and
* read back the data from Fuel gauge IC like "I2cReadData(BQ34Z100_ADDR, data, 2)".

Is this the correct way. Do I need to do the follow the same procedure(Send and Read back) for all the other parameters(charging state, voltage etc) ??

Please clarify.

writeData[0] = 0x00;
writeData[0] = 0x02;
I2cSendData(BQ34Z100_ADDR, writeData, 2)
I2cReadData(BQ34Z100_ADDR, data, 10)//Read 10 bytes.

Now you should parse the data from "data", for this you have to read the data sheet, how they have formed the "StateOfCharge" output.

Yeah will check that. I just went through BQ27441-G1 data sheet and found out that there is a read-only function StateOfCharge(1C and 1D) which will return the battery remaining capacity in %.
So my question is it possible to read the SOC function directly using i2Csendbyte and readbyte function ??.

And I can't find in BQ27441-G1 datasheet like how they have formed the SOC and how to parse the read "data" buffer.
www.ti.com/.../sluuac9a.pdf -> this is the BQ27441-G1 if possible please check and point out where they have mentioned about SOC formation. It will be halpful.
