AM335x Starter Kit binary file load

Hi Sir,

I am using sitara starter kit as an development board. I want to run some basic functionality code without use of uboot. so I want to know that how can i transfer code from my host pc to device so that this will test my devices (like RAM,Status LED's).I dont have JTAG connector. i want to transfer it without the use of it.

when i connect bare metal device without any bootloader, it shows "CCCCCCC" on console which shows that ram is detected now I want to test RAM(what will be my approach). shall I transfer image from serial to RAM directly and run their my test app.

This is not correct. This shows only that UART boot ROM code is executing, waiting for communication. Which Starter Kit is this - AM335x or AM437x?

The best approach in my opinion would be to use an SD card with the Starterware bootloader and your application. You can find information about Starterware here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../StarterWare and there is a dedicated forum that supports it: e2e.ti.com/.../790.aspx

Hi Sir,
I want to know that, for use of sd card does I need init SD Card, or already initialiased in ROM(like uart)..? I want to test devices without the use of any bootloader.

The Starter Kit boots from SD card. The bootloader is necessary to initialize the device and specifically DDR memory. If you don't use a bootloader you will need to do device initialization by yourself and you will have only the internal 128kB RAM available for program/data space.

Hi Sir,
is their any way to run custom binary file into ram without the use of sd card, can I transfer binary file from serial uart to RAM...?

Hi Sir,
does i need to init micro memory card in my test app if i want to boot from sd card, or it is already initialized in ROM code.(in short I want to write my own bootloader then what from where I can start)..?

Hi Sir,
Thanks for reply,I downloaded starterware code from git repository and tried to compile using code composer studio. but when i imported any CCS project from example codes. it givers an error of "unable to open include directory",from that I concluded that included project doesnt have libraries So does I need to download and install starterware.exe file for windows 7,so that it will add library package for CCS..?currently I am not able to include starterware libraries in ccs, how can I add it..? if I install starterware.exe then will it automatically include in CCS..?
also I want to know that does I require to compile starterware bootloader code to create MLO..?currently I compiled a bootloader(by adding src and include files manually) using files provided in starterware code but its hex file size is very large i.e.242kB ..?
