How about applying an external 3V to VMMC1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530, TPS65950, TPS65930

Due to the board cann't boot up sometime and I found there's no VMMC power, so I have tried to apply an external 3V to VMMC1 . But I don't know wether this will damage the chip.  Also , What's the timing impact if  I apply the VMMC1 before omap3530 boot up?

Thanks a lot!

  • If you apply 3V while other power supplies are down you will damage the processor.  It probably won't immediately destroy the processor, but you will certainly be damaging it!

Are you using TPS65950?  OMAP should be sending a command over I2C to the TPS65950 to turn on that power rail as needed.

  • Thanks, Brad Griffis.

I'm using TPS65930. I have searched the forum , it seems I have encountered some ever posted issue. The board sometimes cann't bootup and VMMC is 0V. The SYS_nRESWARM was seen ouputing pulse . After using hot gun, it has been working fine till now.

    Thank you again.
