AM335x 4-bit ECC NAND booting issue

Thanks for the reply. Presently in am335x_evm.h it is set to OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW
So now after the ECC bit is changed to 4 can i set to OMAP_ECC_BCH8_SW ?

What is the page size and spare area of your NAND?

It did not work with the (OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW_DETECTION_SW) configuration.
I will explain you the exact process how are we writing.
First we are booting using sd card. Then after stopping at u-boot we are using fatload command to copy the MLO and u-boot.img to RAM using USB. Then we copy the MLO u-boot.img from RAM to NAND. After writing to NAND, we are switching off the board and remove the SD card.After turning it ON we are expecting it to boot from NAND but its not booting.

Can you please help us?

Did you do all modifications as described here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Linux_Core_NAND_User's_Guide (look at BCH8_HW)? Can you post the log of how you erase/write to NAND? Is your SYSBOOT9 = 0?

our SYSBOOT9 =0 .This board was previously booting with NAND with 1 bit ECC.
our partition in NAND will be like this:

Right now for booting purpose we are only writing MLO u-boot.img and dtb file . In SPL we are writing MLO, for u-boot-spl-os we are writing the dtb and for u-boot we are writing u-boot.img.

I suppose you are booting from SD card. Are you booting from the same version that you are trying to write to NAND (i.e. do you have BCH-8 support enabled in the U-boot that you use for writing to NAND)?

We have config options in am335x_evm.h
#define MMC_BOOT 0
#define NAND_BOOT 1

Right now when we are booting from SD card the present configurations (OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW_DETECTION_SW) is not enabled. We are only enabling this configurations for creating MLO and u-boot.img for NAND.
It means in SD card boot also we need to enable these configurations?

Our page size is 2048 bytes but in BCH_16 is applicable for 4096...Can we do the above configurations?

Yes, read the quote above about how ROM code decides which ECC to use. What matters is the spare area size.
