Hello All,

I am trying to boot my sitara AM3358 starter kit using winbond 64MB SPI Flash. Till now I have successfully configured the SPI flash with my board and I could easily program this SPI flash using flash writer code available in starterware. The Problem is I am unable to bootload the code using this external SPI. Is it possible to bootload AM3358 StarterKit directly from SPI(without using Altera CPLD). If yes then can somebody please direct me, how to make its boot.bin file. I am using "gpioCardDetect" application as an example.

To boot the Starter Kit from SPI you will need to modify the SYSBOOT resistors according to Table 26-7 from the AM335x TRM Rev. N. Starter Kit schematics can be found here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM335x_StarterKit_Board_Design_Files Starterware is not supported on this forum. Thanks for timely response and direction. Boot sequence is MMC0, SPIO, UART0,USB0 as SYSBOOT[4:0] is 10111b. The document(spruh73k.pdf) says if it does not find a valid SPL (secondary program loader) at MMC0 it will shift to the next in sequence.
Does changing the sequence really makes the difference?
Will definitely try SYSBOOT[4:0] 10110b (SPI0,MMC0,UART0,EMAC1)

Thanks for the valuable suggestions. I have made some changes in boot file of EVM code to make it fit for starter kit and it worked. Issue resolved
