[ProcSDK, PDK] Some PDK driver components don't support profile feature

Hi,

This is just a input to your ProcSDK team, but some PDK driver components don't support profile feature that is described at the following link.

I'm now using ProcessorSDK 03.00.00 (at this moment, it is latest one). Each driver has a common interface (Settings.xs) to configure the driver and there should be a flag (enableProfiling) to pick profiling-enabled library during RTSC configuration. I could not find the flag in some drivers, for example, mcasp. I seem the profiling should be regarded as common feature, so I would like you to support this on all of PDK drivers in the future release of ProcSDK. Thanks for your consideration.

Best Regards,
Naoki

  • Thank you for your post. We will discuss with our development team and get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Hi Raja,

Thanks for your reply. In addition, only one-shot profiling seems to be supported by each profile implementation (such as profilingHooksC66.c). It's not circular. I think it is nice to have circular buffering option. Also, there is no parameter to configure the buffer size for profiling during RTSC configuration.

Maybe this is too much, but it is nice (for me) to have reset/enable/disable APIs for profiling in runtime.

  • Yes, we acknowledge that McASP and some other driver in the Processor SDK RTOS don`t support the profiling. We do intend to roll out this feature for all drivers in coming releases. I have filed a request to prioritize McASP driver based on your request and will update the post when this feature is available.

Thanks for your feedback. Let us know if you find any other gaps in the offering that you would like to see added to the SDK based on your application requirements.

    Rahul
