AM35xx - USB-OTG - Datasheet - Mentor Graphics

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3517

Hi,

i have the newest datasheet for the Sitara AM35xx-Processor.

Chapter 20.1 is about the High-Speed USB OTG Controller i wanna implement. There is the information that the USB is from Mentor Graphics Corp.:

> NOTE: The High-Speed USB OTG Controller is an instantiation of the MUSBMHDRC from Mentor

> Graphics Corporation.

> Mentor Graphics is a registered trademark of Mentor Graphics Corporation or its affiliated

> companies in the United States and other countries.

> The High-Speed USB OTG Controller is an instantiation of the MUSBMHDRC from Mentor Graphics

> Corporation.

There is a range from offset 0x400-0x59c 'USB Mentor Core Registers/FIFOs' that is not described in datasheet:

> 20.1.14.30 USB Mentor Core Registers/FIFOs (Base Address + 0x400 – 0x59C)

> A description of the Mentor core registers is available in the Mentor specification. The core registers are

> described starting at address 0x000, but they are located in the USB 2.0 OTG module starting at 0x400.

> To convert, just add 0x400 to the register address in the Mentor core specification.

Chapter 20.1.14.30.1 is not a subchapter, it's about another range starting at offset 0x1800.

Where can i find the documentation for this chapter?

  • We are working with our legal team to understand the agreement we have with Mentor on providing this information.  I hope to have this issue resolved soon.  A reply will be posted on this forum as soon as we have an answer, so please monitor this forum post for updates.

  • Is there an additional direct contact address for mentor graphics? Not the general support address.

  • Dirk,

While the legal team works on the issue I would recommend that you can refer to the Linux MUSB driver for the related information on the critical registers.  Another option is to refer to the spru documentation on platforms such as AM3517 that have the same usb controller.

    regards

So, i use the AM3517. The documentation for the require parts is not in there.

"When i buy a car, and in the manual is the part missing, how to change the lightbulb, what would happen when one light dies? I could ask my dealer. He tells my that i have to ask the manufacturer. The Manufacturer tells me that he doesn't know how the dealer modified the lightbulb. Now it's late in the night and i just wanna change this damn lightbulb. Then i get the answer on telephone, i should stop another car, driving across me, that uses the same modified version of the lightbulb. Yes, perhaps there is one inside, but i don't know how to solve my problem. So i call again my dealer. He tells me that he doesn't know, if he is allowed to tell me, how i can change the bulb?

After a lot of trials and error i probably get the new bulb installed. During my drive at home the police stops me and tells me that there is something wrong with light. I forgot to fix the clip XYZ and the light was burning very weak. I pay'd my fee and walked home..."

Can you give a date when the full documentation for this issue is available.

It's no problem to sign a NDA.

It should be no problem to pay some fee.

    Regards

    Me

  • The TMS320DM365 has the Mentor register information included in a document titled “TMS320DM36x DMSoC Universal Serial Bus User’s Guide” (TI document # SPRUFH9).  The Mentor register description begins with section 4.45.

  • Please contact your local Texas Instruments technical sales representative (TSR) to discuss your options with respect to an NDA.  Please refer them to this forum post to provide background on your request.
