100 Mbps operation not working AM439

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS, AM4379

Hi,

We are using AM4379 chip.We are planning to devolope an ethernet based application using CPSW Ethernet with SYSBIOS.

We used NIMU_BasicExample_idkAM437x_armExampleproject (from pdk_am437x_1_0_1 )on AM437x IDK board and able to ping the board.

From TI Documents,The CPSW driver supports 10/100/1000 Mbps mode of operation and auto negotiation.

But while testing,100 Mbps operation was not working. other 2 are working(10 and 1000mpbs)

What could be the reason behind this?

Regards,

Jinu

  • Hi Jinu,

I've alerted the SYSBIOS ethernet experts about your question. They should respond here soon.

    Best Regards,

  • Jinu,

Can you confirm that the test was done on AM437x IDK EVM? How do you select 10/100Mb mode, is that by changing:

    CpswPortMacModeSelect(1, ETHERNET_MAC_TYPE_RGMII);

What is the other end of the Ethernet cable, you connected to a switch/hub or directly to a device? How do you control the link speed of the remote device? Did you try the latest pdk_am437x_1_0_3?

    Regards, Eric

  • HI Eric,
The test was done on AM437x IDK board.
In Code we diddnt change anything . We used CpswPortMacModeSelect(1, ETHERNET_MAC_TYPE_RGMII); .
The other end of the device connected to a PC (network adaptor Realteck PCIE FW controller) and we tried to ping the IP address.
When we connected it to another PC which support gigabit port, the negotiated connection wass 1000 mbps, we were able to ping the borad.

We changed the adapter setting of PC by changing "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections\Ethernet\Properties\configure\advanced\speed and duplex from auto negotiation to 10 Mbps full duplex , it starts working . but when we select 100 mbps or auto negotiation, it was not working.

    We used pdk_am437x_1_0_1

  • Jinu,

Thanks for the explanation! This is a known issue and will be fixed in Processor SDK RTOS 3.1 release, which will be released by end of Q3.
