How to update linuxptp package for ProcessorSDK 03.00.00.04?

We are using the latest Processor SDK release 03.00.00.04 on the 66AK2L06 EVM, running the included Linux kernel on the ARM cores. The version of ptp4l (linuxptp) included in this version of Processor SDK release is 1.6. We are trying to get this EVM syncing to a PTP master, but we are seeing some issue that we think may be related to bugs in this version of ptp4l (see release notes here sourceforge.net/.../).

The latest version of linuxptp is 1.7 which includes bug fixes that we are interested in. Is there some pre-built package for linuxptp 1.7 for the ARM available somewhere that we can install on the EVM (using opkg)? In general, what is the procedure for updating Linux software packages in-between releases of the Processor SDK?

Hi Alan,

The last release of Processor SDK is 03.00.00.04 at the moment. Linuxptp v1.7 will be included in the next Processor SDK release. For now you can use Linuxptp v1.7 only from official Linuxptp web page: sourceforge.net/.../

OK, so I take it that we will need to build linuxptp 1.7 from source ourselves if we want to use it now. What about older releases, are there prebuilt packages available for older linuxptp versions such as 1.5?

Also, what is the typical release schedule for Processor SDK? From the last few releases it seems like it is every 3 months? Is that accurate? Based on this, will the next release come sometime in October 2016?

When you click on that link there is again a link to the previous SDK:

This way you can navigate backwards to the release you need.

As you know there are prebuilt images in the sources obtained with the SDK installer.

This is not true. There are schedules, which are not publicly available and I cannot share them. However there is no consistency in the time frame between software releases, it may take more than 3 months..

I see there is a new Processor SDK release (03.01.00.06). But according to the SW manifest, it looks like it still includes linuxptp v1.6. Is that correct? When will linuxptp v1.7 be included in Processor SDK? I thought it would be included in this release.

Unfortunately in TI Processor SDK is not added migration to linuxptp v1.7 but still is used linuxptp v1.6.
