Hi there, are there any eval board that connects to a peripheral using UPP IF?

I think, Mity-DSP OMAPL138 EVM board has UPP interface on their board.

Hi Titus,

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't find any reference design of UPP on OMAP-L138 EVAL board, it looks it's using Video IF.

I am interested to know if there is a need to have a series resister of 22ohm on each of the output pin. Thanks.

Thanks Mukul, I was wondering what is MityDSP. The information I am looking is the output impedance of the DSP IO driver. I want to connect DSP to FPGA using the UPP IF and I would like to know if there is a need for series termination of 22 Ohm needed. In the datasheet there is information about the termination resistors for DDR2 IF but would like to get something similar for UPP and in general any IO.

Hi Mitesh,

The nominal impedance of the UPP buffers for the OMAP-L138 is 40 ohms. An initial value for the series termination can be selected but simulation of your PCB would result in the best value for your system.

Hi Bill, thanks for the info. Did to get this number from datasheet? is that same for C6748 GPIO pins?

Is this the reason that there is a 22 Ohm resistor on almost all GPIO pin on EVM C6747 as series termination?

Hi Mitesh,

I checked the internal specification for the IO cell used on the OMAP part you were asking about. I don't know if the same cell was used on the C6748. Is that the part you are interested in?

Hi Bill, yes as I am not 100% sure if I will end up using OMAP-L138 or C6748.. So would like to know if the output resistance of the IO will be 40 Ohm. If so then I can use a 22 Ohm series termination.. ta.
