SPRS550A NEW Datasheet(MAY'10) v/s Old Datasheet(OCT'09)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3505

Hello!

I am about to lock in our design which has the AM3505 in it. Would be great if you could let me know if there are any other pin functionalities being swapped other than the ones listed below after the Datasheet has been updated!!

Pin AA12 - CAP_VDD_SRAM_CORE

The updated Datasheet (SPRS550A–OCTOBER 2009–REVISED MAY 2010,Page 77) of the AM3505 mentions that the CAP_VDD_SRAM_CORE voltage has changed to 1.2V. Further along, updated Datasheet (SPRS550A–OCTOBER 2009–REVISED MAY 2010,Page 81), says its 1.8V.

The earlier release of the dataSheet, SPRS550A–OCTOBER 2009 Page 57 , says its 1.8V!!! is it a typo ???

Others Pins

Pin No OLD DS   NEW DS
N22 VDDS 1.8V changed to NC
G20 Reserved changed to VSS
G21 Reserved changed to VSS
N21 Reserved changed to NC

Could you please list any others pins that I may have to look at?

Thank you,

Pretesh

  • Hello Pretesh,

For the CAP_VDD_SRAM_CORE this pin should have a cap to ground.  The change in the data manual is correct.  The internal voltage that is associated with this pin is 1.2V (core).  This pin does not get connecte externally to 1.2V, so there is no change to the design of the board.

the other balls are also correct.

N22  - connecting it to VDDS 1.8V will not hurt the design.  This was just for internal testing and it is not necessary to have it connected to 1.8V.
G20 and G21 were origionally called Reserved, but the note said for proper operation these should be connected to VSS, so we just moved them to the VSS list.
N21 was origionally called Reserved, but the note said for proper operation these should be unconnected, so we just moved it to the NC list.

I will check to see if there are any other changes that you didn't highlight.

    Best regards,
    "Jeff
