TI-RTOS upport for Sitara

I would like to know whether the full TI-RTOS (NOT just the SYS/BIOS) is supported for the Sitara series (AM335X, AM437X, AM57X) or at least part of the Sitara series (AM335X Cortex-A8 and AM437X Cortex-A9)?

Could you provide a breakdown of what TI-RTOS options (kernel, middleware and drivers) exist for the AM335X series now and in the projected future?

Based on what the TI wikis and product pages have indicated, my suspicion is that TI-RTOS has only limited supported for Sitara, just SYS/BIOS (kernel) and a few drivers. No middleware such as filesystem or USB stacks.

Also, if it is the case that the middleware is NOT supported for Sitara, then can you confirm whether these suppliers provide Sitara and TI-RTOS compatible middlware products: HCC Embedded, Interniche Technologies, Simma Software?

The additional support such as stacks and drivers are available through the processor SDK RTOS for the various Sitara processors. The links you have reflect old information. These links below tell you more about which components and drivers are available:

This should clarify what we have.

We also have many 3P RTOS providers for the Sitara family if you want to go that route. HCC-embedded certainly supports TI-RTOS for individual components as does Micro DIgital.

Pardon my slowness in understanding here. There just to be so many statements on TI website and the wikis that it is still confusing for me. What is the "Processor SDK" and how is related to TI-RTOS, if at all related? I do see that there is a block for TI-RTOS in the diagram shown for "Processor SDK". But the verbage on the developer guide is confusing with regard to TI-RTOS and what exactly is "Processor SDK":

Why is the SDK not mentioned on either of these pages?

Hi Daniel,

My understanding is that Processor SDK is a platform offering for each processor organizing the collection of developer tools, drivers, RTOSs (including TI-RTOS), ... Nick might be able answer your questions regarding the messaging of Processor SDK and other marketing feedback.

Do you have a specific Sitara requirement or question that needs an answer?

You will see there are two other links for that page. One is for processors and one is for MCUs. If you click on the processors link (since you are using a processor not an MCU) you will come to a second page that provides links to the Processor SDK RTOS and a short explanation about why you need to use these.

The wiki page link should be updated to reflect this information.

Processor SDK is the standard way you get an SDK for a TI processor. There are typically two versions: an embedded Linux one and a TI-RTOS one. This is now how we deliver TI-RTOS releases for processors. It makes sense because it ensures all the drivers and libraries that the processor apps team is releasing work with TI-RTOS.
