TDA3x DSS BT656 output: Are there SAV/EAV codes during vertical blanking period?

Hi,

In TDA3x TRM, I found below info in DSS section. Shall the bold work change to blanking interval or horizontal and vertical blanking interval?

During the transmission of the video signal, the portion of the stream in-between active video data segments is known as the horizontal blanking interval.

In 9.2.4.13.4.1 DISPC BT Mode Blanking, it says blanking interval also includes the EAV and SAV codes. But due to above info, customer is not sure if there are SAV/EAV codes during vertical blanking period with BT656 output.

Would you pls help to confirm?

  • Hi Chris,

Typically SAV/EAV codes are part of the blanking data, they are not part of the active video data. Also they are considered as part of the horizontal blanking data. As per the BT656 specs, the area above active video also has two portions, vertical blanking area and horizontal blanking area, so this portion also has SAV/EAV codes.

    Regards,
