AM335x EtherCAT + Ethernet possibility

With AM335x,

Is it possible to use both EtherCAT (at Port 1) and Ethernet (at Port 0) simultaneously?

If possible, is there reference design which uses both?

Hi Hayden,

for a good answer you will need to specify what EtherCAT port you need. Master or slave? Single port EtherCAT slave devices are not very common...

in that case chances are good to find a solution. However I don't think we have a readily available reference in terms of SW. For HW you may use AM335x ICEv2 or AM437x IDK.
As TI does not provide EtherCAT master solutions directly your customer will need to work with a 3P (e.g. Acontis) who have EtherCAT master stacks that work through a CPSW or PRU-ICSS port. CPSW could be used in dual-mac mode (still some dependencies between the two ports).
For PRU-ICSS based solution two EMAC drivers (one PRU for each port) are required.
Latest (RT-)Linux SDK for example should support such configurations.
We have also implemented demos on AM572x for example where EtherCAT was running through one PRU-ICSS and standard Ethernet via CPSW (GBit!).
