How to write the device driver on RTLinux, or read/write GPIO? Is via system call read or write file?

Hi Hans,

There are various ways for reading/writing GPIOs in Linux depending on where is your source - Kernel space or user space. Here is a link to Linux PSP GPIO Driver Guide which could help you for GPIO read/write understanding:

More advanced way for reading/writing GPIOs is to use memory map. See linked tutorial below:

Hi Tsevtolin,

Thanks so much. I use the RTLinux with AM4379, Does the pthread should running in user space? I browsed some articles, the rtlinux code is a module, but the rt wiki website is a main function now.Should I choose which one? Thanks!

TI write a file RT_Linux_SDK_Slides.pdf about the GPIO performance test, but does not publish the code, Can you supply the code? I want to the RTLinux gpio test code. Thanks.

Yes, you can use pthread header functions in user space. Here is a pthread library functions example in user space:
