After my evaluation board boots up and load the kernel, there are a couple of lines on the top of the display with the rest blank as expected.  What causes those lines and can I do anything about them.  When I run the encodedecode demo those lines are still there and I can only access the video lines just after those.  I need to start writing data to line 24 on field one (I am using PAL-I) and the last line is on line 25.  If I can not access it, how can I at least get it to display data captured from the composite input?

     This is likely the closed caption data you are seeing.

    These lines are not usually visible on most TVs.

    My application requires that I insert 576 bits on a frame as data on the left edge.  Reader software decodes the data and people does not see it as it is also hidden behind the plastics on a tv.

    Here is a captured frame from my app with input from a video pattern generator and some watermark stuff put in by the framegrabber together with my frame counter.
