Our local DSP TS is out and I'm working to secure some inputs on the OMAP3530 CFA. Currently the customer is having resolution issues with their system and are asking for our support per the request below:
I still would like to confirm which CFA table would be specific to either the MT9P imager family or specifically to the MT9P401 imager itself.
Conversely, if there are specific CFA tables for specific cmos imagers, this could also provide some useful information for our hardware developers.
I agree that this document explains, in further detail, the CFA interpolation method, there is still bits of missing information.
The Generic Bayer provides a functional block diagram which is shown in Figure 12-115 of the document you sent. The h/w implementation is not identified as a specific CFA algorithm. I was hoping to compare it to the current s/w CFA implementations that I have on the PC. See previous email. Does the h/w follow a well know Bayer Interpolation Algorithm?
Our system is using the MT9P401 cmos image sensor from Aptina. From the note on page 140 “Note: Coefficients are based on sensor type. However, users can use a different method of defining an optimal coefficient set.”
Is there a specific set of coefficients that match this imager? Aptina also provides a list of sensors that fall into the generic MT9P family. Is there a possibility that a set of coefficients is available for this family of image sensors.
Also, what would be the threshold values for making the decision in the horizontal (PRV_CFA [7:0] GRADTH_HOR) and vertical (PRV_CFA [15:8] GRADTH_VER) directions, also based on this image sensor?
Attached is some customer history:
Our customer is using the Aptina CMOS image sensor and the evaluation kit has implemented a number of different algorithms in s/w. These are:
- Pattern Recognition
- Laroche – Prescott
- fast Linear
- Anisotropic
- Bayer Colour
Do any of these algorithms match a configuration within CFA interpolation block? Are there other algorithm choices in the OMAP?
Are there algorithms specific to Aptina CMOS image sensors?
