AM572x VIP raw capture modes

I'm reading through the AM572x video input port section in the TRM. Can somebody explain wjat the raw capture modes are?

From TRM...

– 8-bit YUV422 (Y and U/V time interleaved)
– 16-bit YUV422 (CbY and CrY time interleaved)
– 24-bit YUV444
– 16-bit RGB565
– 24-bit RGB888
– 12/16-bit RAW Capture
– 24-bit RAW capture

And how does that relate to "Supports RAW to RAW (no processing)"?

Thanks

  • I will ask the video experts to comment. They will respond here.
  • Hi Brad,

Can somebody explain wjat the raw capture modes are?

Those modes mean, that the VIP is able to accept data coming directly from the sensor, without any processing done by the camera module.

And how does that relate to "Supports RAW to RAW (no processing)"?

When there is a raw capture, the user can choose to "bypass", so to say, the vip (no processing of the data) and provide the data directly to the vpdma, so that it can be written into the memory.
