PTP protocol implementation using AM335x

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83640

I am working on AM335x running on linux-3.0

I want to synchronize the CPU clock using the GPS clock which outputs PTP packets over Network.

Basically I  want to implement PTP protocol on Linux so that slave device get sync to GPS Mater clock.

Does AM335x support PTP IEEE 1588 protocol ?

If yes are this configuration enough

  1. Select PPS Support - Device Drivers ---> PPS Support ---> <*> PPS Support
  2. Select PTP Clock Support - Device Drivers ---> PTP Clock Support ---> <*> PTP Clock Support
  3. Select TI CPTS PTP Clock - Device Drivers ---> PTP Clock Support ---> <*> TI CPTS as PTP clock

Do I need this device DP83640 IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol Transceiver ?
