u-boot is not getting saved onto flash

Dear experts,

I had erased my nand and successfully downloaded u-boot onto it. When i power off and power on the board or when i reset the omap processor, bootloader wont start.

Again i have to download the u-boot.bin to nand.

What could be the problem, why it not getting saved??

Hi Ashwini,

If I understand correctly, you download u-boot and you are using u-boot commands to re-flash u-boot. Are you also re-flashing a signed version of x-loader to flash?

Thanks for your reply,

I have followed the procedure which is mentioned in the link told by you in your last post. (which is same as getting started guide)

But i am not re-flashing x-loader. Kindly clarify that what difference it makes by only re-flashing u-boot without x-loader.

Ashwini,

While u-boot is the bootloader for the kernel, x-loader is the bootloader for u-boot. On power on or reset, x-loader runs first to get u-boot up and running. In a previous message, you mentioned you erased flash. If you erased the entire flash, then you erased x-loader and u-boot.

Hi,

Follow the section 5.4 for restoring all images, if you look at the reflash-micron(or samsung).txt, environment variables set to write the images at appropriate NAND addr, appropriate location to read from via tftp.

If you want only x-loader image to be ported, then make TFTP server on (PumpKIN) which comes as part of dvsdk. make sure that environmental variable is set to proper path where from image has to be copied, and the memory location to be copied on NAND.

setenv rf_get_xloader tftpboot 0x81600000 images/boot-strap/x-load.bin.ift

setenv rf_wr_xloader_new nandecc hw\; nand write.i 0x81600000 0 20000
