Image analyzer settings for "Accessing pixels in a frame on DM643x" demo app

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM6437

Hi,

I'm running the "Accessing pixels in a frame on DM643x" (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Accessing_pixels_in_a_frame_on_DM643x) example code in CCS v4.1.2.00027, using the TMS320DM6437 evaluation board.

So far, I've been able to run the project, but I'd like to view the frames in image analyzer.

From the source code I see the frames are720x480 16-bit YCbCr422 images.

Can someone share the complete image settings (pixel stride, mask, etc)?

Thank you

  • I am glad to hear you were able to get the project to work properly in CCS 4.1, I only recall testing it in CCS 3.3.

As to the settings, unfortunately I have not tried out the image analyzer myself, though I would have hoped that there would be some default settings for viewing a YCbCr 4:2:2 image since this is so common in TI processors, it should be able to guess your strides and masks (though this configurability would allow you to use less standard formats). In any case the settings should be fairly simple to try out, though note since I have not used this tool personally I could be entirely wrong.

    Pixels per line - 720
    Number of lines - 480
    Data format - Packed
    Resolution - 4:2:2
YUV order - UYVY (not sure on this, if the colors are off change this)
Y pixel stride - 2 (Y is every other byte in packed 4:2:2)
Y mask - 0xFF (assuming this means how many bits to collect, we want 8 of each)
    U pixel stride - 4 (Cb/Cr / U/V are every 4th byte in packed 4:2:2)
    U mask - 0xFF
    V pixel stride - 4
    V mask - 0xFF
    Line stride - 1440
Start Address - 0x8??????? (your frame buffer pointer)

I would start with something like this and see if you see anything valid at all and than tweak from there

  • Bernie, thank you for the quick answer.

    Those settings worked perfectly.
