SD card without Card Detect

Hello,

We'd like to provide a SD card interface using the SDIO 4-bit mode in MMC1.  In doing the pinmuxing, SDIO 4-bit mode automatically deselects the CD and WP pins.  We are mainly concerned about the CD pin.  Can we still having a functioning SD card interface using SDIO 4-bit mode on MMC1 without the CD pin?  Unfortuantely, that pin has since been multiplexed/consumed by our I2C data line.
